Port Alberni Salmon Festival -  his is the big one. Held Labour Day Weekend (End of August, beginning of September) each year, the 41st annual was held August 31, September 1-3, 2012. Over $50,000 in prizes for three days plus hidden weight and draw prizes. $10,000 for the biggest fish of the weekend. Fishing is in Barkley Sound and the Alberni Inlet.
